maybe i'll show her my "o" face
Check out this Adidas commercial. The commercial itself is alright, but the song used in it is exquisite. I wonder how I can get my hands on it. It's called "Hello Tomorrow" and is composed by Squeak E. Clean with vocals by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs). I love it, how about you?

that's all i got to say, i love you, is that okay?
I have been smitten. I'm all goo goo ga ga over a new woman and she's enchanted me by way of her voice. This woman? Natasha Bedingfield (yes, the sister of Daniel Bedingfield). Those lucky Brits (or rather UK folk) get all the talent when it comes to music. Anyway, listen to a few of her live material here. Be amazed.
floating on petals
Well, I did it. Gave a flower to a stranger. I had originally wanted to give a flower to an elderly lady, but I saw a pretty worker at Borders Books and decided that she seemed like the type of person that would appreciate receiving a flower. I walked up to her, asked her if she could help me out. She replied, "sure." And I said, "would you take this flower for me?" She laughed out loud from surprise and after accepting the rose, asked me if there was a reason or if I was just trying to get rid of it. I told her, "no, no reason, just a random act of kindness." I smiled at her, told her to have a nice day and walked away. I hope that made her feel good because I certainly felt good afterwards. I have been floating on a high ever since.

a lesson in linguistics from an idiot
Alright (yes, I know this is debatable usage of "all right"), there is no such word as "definately." I wonder (not "wander") why so many so called "writers" use that word? It's a good thing I've always used the proper "definitely." Good for me. Anyway, there is no "anyways" folks, and it's "it's" if you're making a conjunction of "it is" but it's "its" if it is used possessively. "You're" and "your" works the same way too (not "to" or "two"). Also, there (as opposed to "they're" and "their") is no "alot." It is "a lot." And don't be a loser (not "looser") by being lazy in saying "supposably" when it is supposed to (not "suppose to") be "supposedly." So take heed all. Then (not "than") again, I'm an idiot, so perhaps not.

an evening at the independent
Last night was fairly splendid (@The Independent). $11 for 2.5 hours of live music. I think that's the most bang for the buck I've had for a concert (excluding free ones). Anyway, the first opening act, Send for Help was sort of like Ky's Distilled Water. In other words, "kinda bland." The next act We Are Scientists was much better and far more interesting musically. However, I just couldn't help but be distracted by the fact that Nam had his jaw on the floor and drooling uncontrollably while staring at the lead singer, Topher Grace with wild hair.
As for the main act (which deserves its own paragraph), Bishop Allen was spectacular and by far the most creative, musically, of the 3 bands that night. No offense to the others, but I was there to rock out to some Bishop Allen and I tend to have tunnel vision. However, I must admit, I was a little worried about the new line up (two of the girls left and was replaced by 1 guy and another girl since their first CD--which is all I have to go by in terms of of judging their music), but it worked and sounded equally as good. Anyway, sadly, nothing really stood out from the new material I heard (I still look forward to it anyway), but their old material had me tapping and head bobbing. Good stuff. Everyone who didn't go? You missed out.
By the way, anyone done the task yet? Post a story when you do.

redemption for a horrible deed to music
I would like to apologize for the Amerie link, but to make up for that link, here is a link to one of the best songs of the year so far. Check out Do Me Bad Things "What's Hideous" here or here. Here's hoping they make it big over here in the States. Enjoy.
the audience is now deaf
Forgive me if I'm a little behind on this, but I just heard a song for the first time and ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! The worst song of 2005 goes to Amerie "1 Thing". Yes, and the year isn't even half over yet, but I think I can safely say, it can't get any worse than this song (at least I hope not). It's even worse than Jennifer Lopez's "Get Right" (supposedly they're both from the same producer, Rich Harrison--lovely).

not every action in life requires material rewards
The Task:
Give a flower (or flowers) to a total stranger. You can get the flower (or flowers) by any means, pick it, buy it, but you must give it to a total stranger.
The Deadline:
Accomplish the task by the end of March.
The Award:
The joy of doing a random act of kindness.
The Monitor:
The honor system.
Spread the word to whoever.

a little bit of pride
Another event to check out: The Asian American Film Festival. I want to see Unleashed, but that's on the 14th (Monday) in SF. Suckface. Who's interested in checking out any of the dates of this event?

kitty I didn't know you could get down like that
I know I'm rather late on this discovery but, best cover song ever? I think we have a winner. Elbow rocks. (Note: the kitten thing was the only thing I could find where you could actually listen to the song). Enjoy.
the carrot on a stick
Arggghhh. Why must I be tormented like so. Bishop Allen is coming to SF, but it's a friggin' weeknight. Who's crazy enough to go with me?

you have eternity, i have only now
Check out fanfilms.net. Some of the stuff there are pretty good (e.g. Batman: Dead End) but some are pretty bad (e.g. Dune). Although I must say the music in the Dune spoof thing brought back memories of my obsession with the mini-series (the first episode of Children of Dune being my favorite--especially the montage scene at the end).
Anyway, I haven't thought of anything yet for the random task (or odd job). It looks like it'll be a failure since no one can come up with one, nor can we agree on the ones that have been mentioned. Oh well.
